I need to revamp this blog. Last entry was in July of 2015…
I started reading YA novels and got sucked into a world of awesomeness! SOOOOO….
I signed up for OwlCrate, which according to their website is:
Every month we’ll send you a magical box tailored to a chosen YA theme (e.g. paranormal, first love, dystopia.) Each box will contain one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish keepsakes to help set the mood for your literary adventure. Don’t forget to document and share your experience with others in the Owlcrate community!
P.S. Every once in awhile we may include an Adult novel that is being embraced by the YA community. You have our promise that it will always be suitable for ages 16+, and that it will be a fantastic read!
Sounds awesome right!? A new book with extra goodies included every month! Basically what I’m trying to say is that every month I will write a detailed review of my OwlCrate and I would love to have some of you discuss the monthly pick with me.
This positive discipline guide has changed the way I handle daily interactions with my two toddlers. The book guides you through the process of letting go of your worries and encourage your child to be independent while she explores the world, with the boundaries you set. It also helps you understand age-appropriate behavior and to recognize the cues of children who are ready to sleep alone and to potty train. And it also includes very informative research in brain development (recent, of course!). This books was so good, I might want to raise a future child following the guidelines that are outlined here. This is a must for every parent of a toddler!
Book description (taken from the book’s website):
he celebrated Positive Discipline brand of parenting books presents the revised and updated third edition of their readable and practical guide to communicating boundaries to very young children and solving early discipline problems to set children up for success.
Over the years millions of parents have used the amazingly effective strategies of Positive Discipline to raise happy, well-behaved, and successful children. Research has shown that the first three years in a child’s life are a critical moment in their development, and that behavior patterns instilled during that time can have profound implications for the rest of a child’s life. Hundreds of thousands of parents have already used the advice in Positive Discipline: The First Three Years to help set effective boundaries, forge strong foundations for healthy communication, and lay the groundwork for happy and respectful relationships with their young children. Now this classic title has been revised and updated to reflect the latest neuroscientific research and developments in positive discipline parenting techniques.
I received a free copy of this book for reviewing purposes. This is my honest opinion and I’m not being compensated for my expressions.
I was looking for a cute motivational book for my two preschoolers (both girls) and I stumbled upon this beautiful Precious Moments book called: God Watches Over Me. The artwork both outside and inside the book reminded me of my childhood and the many “Precious Moments” coloring books I had. I can’t seem to find any Precious Moments things for my kids nowadays. It’s considered vintage now lol! Anyways… according to the website’s description:
Share all the ways that God watches over us with your little one!
Illustrated with the adorable Precious Moments art, this sweet little book features rhyming text about all the ways God watches over His children, helping little ones to feel safe and loved. The book takes a child through all the things that happen in a day, accompanied with a prayer, and closes with a sweet poem that reminds children that God is always watching over us, even when we sleep. Complete with scriptures and prayers, this book will be a wonderful addition to every family’s library.
Since 1978, Precious Moments has grown into an evergreen brand recognized worldwide, with more than 12.5 million books and Bibles sold through Thomas Nelson.
The book is filled with motivational poems for little ones, you can read it during the morning, before nap time and before bedtime. There’s actually little motivational messages that apply to different events in your little one’s life, for example: “God watches over me when I’m brave”. And the best thing… It’s a board book that looks like a regular book. It can fit easily in your diaper bag so you can take it on the go.
It’s been a really cold week here in Greenville, SC! And since everything closed because of the snow I was going stir-crazy by day two trapped inside my apartment. Anyways, I was able to take the girls to the public library on Valentine’s Day and I managed to pick up a copy of “Prince Lestat”!!! That review is coming as soon as I finish “Never Let Me Go” from Kazuo Ishiguro.
So here I was doing school related work, teaching my kids how to read and write, and looking through my old Pinterest boards… my future wedding boards to be exact. I married two years ago in a courthouse after my second daughter was born. But still… sometimes I really want to do my “wedding party” you know? The white dress, the flowers, the photographs… I want it. Obviously we still need to save more money so we can make it happen. And I often find myself dreaming about the day when Cj says “It’s time”… But I have no idea how to plan a wedding!
So I was browsing books to review in my Blogging for books account and I found something that forever changed the way I approached wedding planning:
I saw a boxed set called: “The Knot: little books of BIG WEDDING IDEAS” by Carley Roney.
Book Description: The Knot, the #1 resource for brides, compiled their all-time best wedding details (cakes, bouquets and centerpieces, vows, décor and more), planning advice, and ideas for celebrations big and small within this beautiful box set of four colorful mini books. Whether you’re looking for a breathtaking bouquet, an unforgettably original cake, or the perfect reading for your ceremony, these books offer hundreds of ways to make the day your own.
With more than 200 photographs and inspiration for:
Invitations * cakes * bridal bouquets in every hue * aisle and altar decorations * ceremony readings * guidance for writing your own vows * escort cards * table settings * centerpieces * reception décor * toasts * favors * and more…
The boxed set has 4 little books filled with information and ideas for cakes, bouquets & centerpieces, details such as invitations, stationary lingo, and vows and toasts. The photographs are amazing…especially the ones in the cakes and details books! The packaging is to die for, so much elegance and cuteness. I read all of the little books in less than 3 hours. These are a must for any bride looking for guidance and ideas for her big day.
Blogging for Books made my day (possibly my wedding) with this pick! Thanks so much guys for sending me this boxed set for free just to review it.
I’ve always been skinny. Even after having two kids people still consider me “skinny”, but in my mind I’m not as skinny as society wants me too. When I read this book and all of the struggles Andie Mitchell had to go through as a child and as a young woman I felt like somebody understood me for the first time. That feeling of giving it your all to lose those last 10 pounds and then losing them but they still aren’t enough… This book is for people who are cardio addicts, people who go on extreme diets of juicing and shakes to lose those last 3 pounds, for people who are literally in shape but they still want more…
This book is for people like me, and it helped me cope with my eating/dieting/self image issues. I totally recommend this book. Andie’s journey to being healthy from being obese has taught me that I don’t need to judge my appearance, that I love myself the way I am, that I should stop comparing myself to 90 pound skinny models… It’s not healthy. I need to love myself for who I am, my weight does not define me.
I love food! I consider myself an amateur foodie, but an expert chef haha. And I also love exercise… sometimes…
2014 was a year filled with change. We moved to South Carolina, I graduated college, my little one was diagnosed borderline autistic and I packed 12 pounds. Maybe you guys think 12 pounds is a lot (I weighed 120 pounds) but in my frame ( 5’1) they looked like I gained 20 pounds. So I started having a quarter life crisis. I needed to deal with our new life, my daughter’s treatment every week, and try to keep up with college stuff and my 4 year old so she wouldn’t feel abandoned. I started exercising weekly but I needed something more. I needed motivation!…
That’s when this came into play:
I signed up on BookLook Bloggers to review books for free. And the first one changed my life! This book is filled with healthy recipes, motivational messages from people who were going through some rough times in their lives and they succeeded in life thanks to their faith and The Daniel Fast. The book comes with more than 100 recipes that are super easy to make, especially for people like me that are busy all day long. It also includes 21 daily motivational messages that you can read during the 3 week fast. The book itself is very uplifting, the recipes are amazing and the testimonials will fill you up with hope and perseverance. I combined my Daniel Fast with the Spartacus Workout and was able to shed 5 pounds the first week!! I’m currently starting week 2, so I’ll come back to post some photos of my progress.
Why 4 stars? It only had 7 pages with photos of some of the recipes. As a foodie I love books that are filled with food portraits.
Do I recommend this book?: YES! Especially if you’re a mom trying to get back in shape while eating healthy and developing a sense of spirituality during your journey.
It’s time my friends, time to let you know what I thought about the products from the Vitality VoxBox!
Disclaimer: I got these products for free from Influenster for testing/reviewing purposes. I am not being paid for my opinion, this is just what I think about each product based on my experience with it.
Ok, so these are the products I received complimentary from Influenster & their reviews (READ DISCLAIMER ABOVE):
This cream came in handy this weekend. My husband left a heated pan on top of the stove, so I grabbed the pan thinking it was cool and I accidentally burned my chin. I was so pissed, but luckily First Degree Burn Cream saved me from having a scar on my face! They also donate a portion of the proceeds to provide care to victims of critical burns.
This must be the third VoxBox that includes these tampons haha! These tampons are very comfortable (you won’t even notice they’re there) and I usually use them when I run or do Yoga/Pilates. No leak problems so far! And the perfume is so soft and sweet you’ll feel confident wearing them anywhere.
– Elizabeth Arden FLAWLESS FUTURE Powered by Ceramide Caplet Serum: $60.00 for 1.0 fl oz!
I was so excited when I saw this serum in my #VitaVoxBox. Why? Well, I’m almost 25, and I’m white, which means I am starting to get little lines or wrinkles on my face (near my eyes, when I smile, MY FOREHEAD!!!). So I started including this serum to my morning/night routine. I wash and clean my face with Paula’s Choice products, and then I apply the Elizabeth Arden FLAWLESS FUTURE caplet serum over my face and neck until my skin feels smooth, then I apply my moisturizer. I feel so rejuvenated, and my lines and dark circles are fading away. Definitely a must buy!!! Don’t believe me? LOOK:
Let me start by saying that this was the first time I tasted Pure Leaf Iced Tea. I’m from Puerto Rico originally, and we don’t drink a lot of Iced Tea, or any tea whatsoever… When I moved to SC I noticed that southern people are CRAZY ABOUT SWEET TEA! Or any tea haha, but for me if it’s not tea in a bag then it’s not tea. Well I was a bit skeptical about this tea because most bottled teas are loaded with sugar and caffeine and some weird stuff, that makes it taste even weirder. But I gave it a try. AND I LOVED IT!!! OMG! Tasted just like natural tea, I think I’m in love now with Pure Leaf Iced Tea. Influenster sent me the lemon flavored tea and I’m grateful for it! It was so refreshing, tasted all natural, no sugar at all, you can drink it room temperature or with tons of ice, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I’m surprised I’ve never heard of this brand of tea. Go check them out today! You won’t regret it. TheLoveofLeaves.com
Can you say “BEST LIP BALM EVER!?”. So tasty and soothing, and that adorable cubed shape! Soflips will forever remain in my lips. The variety of flavors is so yummy! And the colors are super cute. Best of all, because of it’s shape it won’t get lost in the bottom of your purse. (Yes, that’s possible). I apply my Softlips lip balm before my lip gloss or lipstick. That way it’ll last longer and mi lips will be protected!
So these gummies (I just got a sample with 2 in them) are good for a quick “pick-me up” kind of situation. It says it increases energy, of course, it contains 20mg of caffeine (equal to 1/4 cup of brewed coffee). So you’re gonna feel super hyper and ready to tackle anything for 2 or 3 hours (at least that’s what happened to me haha). They taste just like regular gummies. Would have loved to receive a full bottle just to study them a bit more.
So there you have it guys! My experience with each product from the #VitaVoxBox! Dont forget to follow/like each product (links are ready to go).
