New Year, New Books!

I need to revamp this blog. Last entry was in July of 2015…

I started reading YA novels and got sucked into a world of awesomeness! SOOOOO….

I signed up for OwlCrate, which according to their website is:

Every month we’ll send you a magical box tailored to a chosen YA theme (e.g. paranormal, first love, dystopia.) Each box will contain one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish keepsakes to help set the mood for your literary adventure. Don’t forget to document and share your experience with others in the Owlcrate community!

P.S. Every once in awhile we may include an Adult novel that is being embraced by the YA community. You have our promise that it will always be suitable for ages 16+, and that it will be a fantastic read!

Sounds awesome right!? A new book with extra goodies included every month! Basically what I’m trying to say is that every month I will write a detailed review of my OwlCrate and I would love to have some of you discuss the monthly pick with me.

Don’t have OwlCrate? Sign up here.

An Amish Cradle (Review)

I took my time reading this book… as a mother I get emotional about baby stuff.

WARNING: This books has different stories about different families going through health issues with their babies. I had to force myself to finish it, so much heartache, left me depressed. Of course these stories happen in real life and I admire mothers that do anything and everything for their children, it’s not easy, but you have to put their needs first.

Anyways, the stories are realistic, but it’s just not the book for me.

Cassey Ho’s Hot Body Year-Round by Cassey Ho (Review)

I love Cassey Ho’s YouTube channel (click here), it’s filled with short exercise routines that you can do anywhere. So when I heard she wrote a book that included some of her YouTube recipes I was stoked! Imagine my surprise when I found out Blogging for Books would let me review a copy of Hot Body Year Round… OMG YES! As soon as the guide came home I started the workouts (which are divided into beginner and advanced weekly plans and seasonal workouts) and I instantly felt more energized, especially while preparing those easy recipes the book includes. After a month my abs were toned and my arms gained a bit of definition. The guide also explains every move in detail (it’s filled with instructional pictures) and it also has motivational messages. I recommend this guide to everyone, beginners and advanced Pilates fans will benefit from this amazing book.

Nobody’s Cuter Than You- Review

I am a huge fan of Melanie’s blog. So I was ecstatic when I got her memoir about the friendships she had experienced throughout her life. While I was reading the book I felt identified with everything she wrote. I only have a few friends that I can totally consider “my true friends”, you know, the ones that are not afraid to tell you that you look like a hot mess whenever you try to dress like a model from the Forever 21 lookbook. This book was filled with hilarious moments and deep ones too. I read it in three hours.

I received this book for free and this is my honest opinion, I’m not being compensated in any way.

Positive Discipline: The First Three Years- A Review!

This positive discipline guide has changed the way I handle daily interactions with my two toddlers. The book guides you through the process of letting go of your worries and encourage your child to be independent while she explores the world, with the boundaries you set. It also helps you understand age-appropriate behavior and to recognize the cues of children who are ready to sleep alone and to potty train. And it also includes very informative research in brain development (recent, of course!). This books was so good, I might want to raise a future child following the guidelines that are outlined here. This is a must for every parent of a toddler!

Book description (taken from the book’s website):

he celebrated Positive Discipline brand of parenting books presents the revised and updated third edition of their readable and practical guide to communicating boundaries to very young children and solving early discipline problems to set children up for success.

Over the years millions of parents have used the amazingly effective strategies of Positive Discipline to raise happy, well-behaved, and successful children. Research has shown that the first three years in a child’s life are a critical moment in their development, and that behavior patterns instilled during that time can have profound implications for the rest of a child’s life. Hundreds of thousands of parents have already used the advice in Positive Discipline: The First Three Years to help set effective boundaries, forge strong foundations for healthy communication, and lay the groundwork for happy and respectful relationships with their young children. Now this classic title has been revised and updated to reflect the latest neuroscientific research and developments in positive discipline parenting techniques.

God Watches Over Me- A review

**DISCLAIMER**

I received a free copy of this book for reviewing purposes. This is my honest opinion and I’m not being compensated for my expressions.

I was looking for a cute motivational book for my two preschoolers (both girls) and I stumbled upon this beautiful Precious Moments book called: God Watches Over Me. The artwork both outside and inside the book reminded me of my childhood and the many “Precious Moments” coloring books I had. I can’t seem to find any Precious Moments things for my kids nowadays. It’s considered vintage now lol! Anyways… according to the website’s description:

Share all the ways that God watches over us with your little one!

Illustrated with the adorable Precious Moments art, this sweet little book features rhyming text about all the ways God watches over His children, helping little ones to feel safe and loved. The book takes a child through all the things that happen in a day, accompanied with a prayer, and closes with a sweet poem that reminds children that God is always watching over us, even when we sleep. Complete with scriptures and prayers, this book will be a wonderful addition to every family’s library.

Since 1978, Precious Moments has grown into an evergreen brand recognized worldwide, with more than 12.5 million books and Bibles sold through Thomas Nelson.

So adorable!

The book is filled with motivational poems for little ones, you can read it during the morning, before nap time and before bedtime. There’s actually little motivational messages that apply to different events in your little one’s life, for example: “God watches over me when I’m brave”. And the best thing… It’s a board book that looks like a regular book. It can fit easily in your diaper bag so you can take it on the go.
